Job summary

Water Otter Job Board is seeking an entry-level Wastewater Operator in Sanibel, Florida to operate and maintain wastewater facilities under supervision. The role includes recording readings, performing tests, and assisting with maintenance of collection, transmission, and reuse systems.

Qualified candidates will hold a Florida Wastewater Operator’s License (Class A/B/C) and a High School diploma or GED, plus a valid Florida driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• State of Florida Class A/B/C Wastewater Operator’s License is REQUIRED.
• Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Operate and regulate wastewater collection, treatment and disposal per regulations and procedures.
• Assist in the operations and maintenance of the wastewater collection, transmission and reuse system (lift stations).
• Take and chart readings; perform samples and tests; adjust chemicals per guidelines.
• Record daily pump operation data and perform corrective actions.
• Prepare daily operating sheets and maintenance records; update reports.
• Conduct qualitative analyses and process-control calculations; prepare samples for testing.
• Maintain and change control room charts, chlorine cylinders and readings.
• Perform routine maintenance on pumps, tanks, aerators, and related equipment; ensure safety rules.
• Remain on-call for emergencies.
