Job summary

The City of Tacoma Environment & Public Works Department is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to manage, operate, and maintain WWTP processes, perform lab tests, and ensure compliance. You will work with plant control systems, monitor meters, and keep detailed logs, often on a 24/7 shift schedule.

Qualified candidates may hold WA DOE certifications with incentive pay; the role includes opportunities for advancement and a strong benefits package.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school with training or coursework in wastewater plant operation.
• One year of experience in the operation of a wastewater treatment plant.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain equipment in a wastewater treatment plant.
• Start and regulate electric motors and pumps.
• Operate and control plant computer systems and related equipment.
• Perform operational laboratory analysis to monitor plant operations.
• Prepare and maintain daily logs, records, and lab reports.
