Job summary

The Ypsilanti Community Utilities Authority (YCUA) is seeking a Foreman to supervise the day-to-day operations of the Wastewater Treatment Plant, organize work assignments, and respond to plant malfunctions.

You will lead, coach and evaluate the operations staff, maintain logs and records, analyze test results, and coordinate with other shifts and departments to meet safety and performance standards.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or vocational school with continuing education credits for MDEQ certification
• Michigan C Wastewater Operator License required; B License within 36 months
• Industrial Stormwater Operator certification within six months of probation
• Valid Michigan Driver's License
• Minimum five years of public works experience (three in wastewater operations)
• Knowledge of hydraulics, chemistry, biology, safety, and lab procedures
• Understanding of public administration standards and practices
• Ability to make action recommendations and lead projects

Responsibilities

• Supervise wastewater operators to meet goals with available resources
• Plan workloads and staff assignments and provide coaching
• Review progress and implement corrective actions as needed
• Coordinate equipment and supply needs of staff and maintain records
• Inspect equipment and facilities and ensure safe operations
• Maintain shift logs and report conditions to the next shift
