Job summary

Newberg is seeking a working supervisor for the Wastewater Treatment Plant who will also assist the Operations Manager in directing water and wastewater systems operations and maintenance. The role requires supervising staff, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with EPA/DEQ and Oregon regulations.

The position involves duties across the water system, wastewater plant, and related facilities, with opportunities for professional development in certification and safety programs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; postsecondary study in engineering or water/wastewater tech is a plus.
• Five years of experience with at least two years in supervision and budgeting.
• Must have Level III or higher wastewater certification; Level IV within one year.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to wear PPE; pre-employment checks required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise staff and coordinate with union representatives within the plant operations.
• Oversee daily operations and maintenance of water and wastewater systems.
• Prepare budget recommendations and monitor expenditures for compliance.
• Ensure compliance with applicable local, state and federal regulations.
• Provide project management support for bids, vendor quotes and equipment purchases.
• Respond to public inquiries and maintain effective public communications.
