Job summary

The City of Columbia is seeking a skilled technician to inspect, maintain and repair equipment at the wastewater treatment plant and lift stations. The role involves performing preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and maintaining accurate work records.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, a SC Class D license, and CDL with tanker endorsement or ability to obtain. On-call duties and weekend shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of relevant prior experience.
• Valid South Carolina Class D Driver's License.
• Must possess SC Class B CDL with tanker endorsement (or obtain within 9 months).
• Must possess D Level Biological Wastewater Operator certification and D Level Wastewater Collection System Operator certification (or obtain within 36 months).
• Must complete Plant Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship Program within 18 months from promotion.

Responsibilities

• Inspects, maintains and repairs wastewater plant and lift-station equipment.
• Performs preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic plant equipment and keeps records.
