Job summary

Chesterfield County Department of Utilities is seeking a Principal Plant Operator focused on Plant Maintenance at the Proctors Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant. The role offers training opportunities and potential salary growth through wastewater licensure.

Requires a high school diploma or GED; ability to lift 50 pounds; and a safety-sensitive posture with drug testing and driving record checks. Training provided for those new to wastewater operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Safety Sensitive; drug/alcohol testing and driving record checks.
• Wastewater experience preferred but training provided.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
• Self-starter with good verbal communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Maintain process equipment and systems at the wastewater treatment plant.
• Maintain plant vehicles and equipment.
• Schedule and oversee contracted work on site.
• Create purchase orders and order materials/equipment.
• Monitor the SCADA system and process trends.
• Perform emergency repairs and document maintenance.
• Work outdoors in all conditions and ensure safety practices.
