Job summary

The City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Environmental Services, Wastewater Treatment and Disposal Division, is seeking a Wastewater Plant Machinist to fabricate, modify, and repair machinery for the Sand Island Wastewater Treatment Plant. The role encompasses operating a range of machine tools, performing shop maintenance, and traveling to sites to complete repairs.

Ideal candidates will have journey-level machinist skills, the ability to read plans and drawings, and experience with

Qualifications

• Knowledge of machinist practices, tools, materials and equipment.
• Ability to read, interpret blueprints, specifications and drawings.
• Ability to operate lathes, shapers, grinders, drill presses, milling machines and power saws.

Responsibilities

• Operate, install, overhaul and repair machine and metal equipment at the Sand Island plant.
• Perform machine shop maintenance and repair activities.
• Transport tools and equipment between sites as needed for repairs and emergencies.
