Job summary

City and County of Honolulu is seeking a Wastewater Plant Machinist to fabricate, modify, and repair machinery and equipment at the Sand Island Wastewater Treatment Plant. The role supports the Wastewater Treatment and Disposal Division, performing skilled work in shop or field settings.

The job involves operating metalworking machines, maintaining and repairing equipment, and transporting tools between plants to respond to emergencies, with a strong emphasis on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• Experience in the machinist trade and related equipment.
• Ability to read, interpret and work from plans, blueprints and working drawings.
• Valid driver27s license as required (current vacancy requires a valid automobile/Type 3 driver7s license).

Responsibilities

• Operate, install, overhaul and repair machine tools and metal equipment (drill presses, lathes, saws, grinders, etc.).
• Perform machine shop maintenance and repair activities.
• Transport tools and equipment between treatment plants to perform repair and maintenance activities and respond to emergencies.
