Job summary

State of Wisconsin, Department of Natural Resources, in Eau Claire, seeks a Limited Term Employee (LTE) Wastewater General Permits Specialist to review applications and determine coverage under general permits for the West Central Region.

The position involves reviewing monitoring reports, coordinating with permittees on compliance, and issuing coverage letters, with potential flexible hours and a maximum of 1039 LTE hours per year.

Qualifications

Proficiency in using personal computers, including word processing, spreadsheets and databases.
Skill in technical writing and other communication with technical and public audiences.
Ability to interpret and apply principles of the Clean Water Fund.
Ability to interpret and apply relevant statutes, administrative rules and DNR guidance on water quality and wastewater management.

Responsibilities

Review monitoring reports from permittees to determine compliance with permit requirements.
Contact permittees regarding exceedances of permit requirements and issue notices of noncompliance where appropriate.
Review WPDES general permit applications for proposed discharges and determine suitability for general permit coverage.
Document permit coverage in the Department's SWAMP database.
Perform inspections of permitees' facilities as time allows.
