Job summary

City of San Benito is seeking a Wastewater Maintenance Worker / Heavy Equipment Operator to perform skilled operation of wastewater and street maintenance machinery. The role includes installing and repairing lines, traffic control, and routine equipment upkeep.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, 2+ years of heavy equipment experience, and a Texas CDL. Candidates should be able to work nights/weekends and pass safety requirements. Competitive hourly wage offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum two years of experience operating heavy equipment, preferably in street maintenance or construction.
• Must maintain an acceptable driving record; valid Texas CDL Class A or B required.

Responsibilities

• Operate City equipment (backhoe, loader, excavator, dump truck) and tools to complete tasks.
• Install and repair wastewater lines and related tasks (excavation, pipe laying, tapping).
• Block off work areas and re-route traffic for safety.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and minor repairs.
• Respond to emergencies and complete required documentation.
