Job summary

Suffolk County Department of Public Works is seeking a Laboratory Technician for the West Babylon, NY lab, with duties primarily at Bergen Point dealing with wastewater testing. Under supervision, you will perform routine tests and assemble data on results for interpretation.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in natural sciences or NYS accreditation with related science background.
• High school diploma plus two years of technical laboratory experience.
• Equivalent education/experience per NYS rules.

Responsibilities

• Record test results and assemble water quality data for interpretation.
• Identify mosquitoes, ticks and non-target organisms by microscopy.
• Perform chemical tests of water to assess pollutants.
• Test soils, concrete and other samples as required.
• Operate various testing instruments and maintain equipment.
