Job summary

City of Oxnard is seeking a Wastewater Operator II to operate treatment systems and perform routine maintenance at the Oxnard Wastewater Treatment Plant. The role includes monitoring processes, collecting samples, and ensuring compliance with discharge permits in a 24/7 operation.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and at least two years of treatment plant operations experience. Certifications and on‑the‑job training may be required within 12 months of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Two (2) years of treatment plant operations experience.

Responsibilities

• Operates the treatment system equipment and processes, facility and equipment upkeep to ensure permit compliance.
• Monitors plant and field processes, readings, and alarms; records changes and adjustments.
• Collects samples and performs routine tests; analyzes results and takes corrective action as needed.
• Uses O&M manuals and SOPs; updates these documents to reflect current conditions.
• Makes recommendations for improving plant operations and performs other duties as assigned.
