Job summary

The City of Norfolk, VA is seeking a Utility Maintenance Supervisor in the Wastewater Division to lead crews responsible for installation, repair, and maintenance of wastewater infrastructure. You will supervise work, ensure safety compliance, assist with budgeting, and coordinate emergency responses to protect public health.

Qualified candidates will have extensive utility maintenance experience, a Class A CDL, and the ability to read and interpret sewer asset drawings.

Qualifications

Four years of utility maintenance/repair/construction experience or equivalent.
Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License required.
Knowledge of safety regulations and OSHA compliance.

Responsibilities

Supervise and schedule multiple crews performing sewer main and lateral cleaning, and maintain equipment and vehicles.
Inspect drawings and read blueprints to determine best maintenance methods and document progress.
Oversee budgeting, cost tracking, and procurement of supplies following purchasing guidelines.
Respond to emergencies and coordinate standby teams for after-hours events (breaks, overflows).
Ensure OSHA safety compliance and safety inspections at worksites; communicate with city officials as needed.
