Job summary

Livingston County is seeking a Wastewater Superintendent to oversee field operations for sanitary sewer systems. The role reports to the Deputy Drain Commissioner, supervising wastewater field crews, coordinating daily activities, and directing improvements while liaising with contractors and developers on current and future projects.

Starting pay is $41.38/hr with potential step increases to $52.42/hr in a non-union Grade 11 scale.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in applied science or equivalent with experience in wastewater operations and supervision.
• High school diploma or GED with ten years of relevant work in wastewater utility operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead field crew and direct daily operations of sanitary sewer systems.
• Coordinate project bids and supervise contractor work under state regulations.
• Ensure safety, training, and performance evaluations for staff.
• Communicate with landowners, regulators, and developers on sewer projects.
• Prepare reports for state agencies and maintain asset records.
