Job summary

Hernando County BOCC is seeking a Wastewater Collection Foreman to lead daily operations and coordinate personnel in the Environmental Services Division. The role prioritizes work orders, assures safety, and enforces federal, state and local standards while protecting public health.

Responsibilities include planning, scheduling, emergency response, and system optimization, with oversight of maintenance, repairs, and new connections.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with multi-year wastewater experience.
• Minimum seven years in wastewater installation, operation, and maintenance.
• At least two years in a supervisory/leadership role required.

Responsibilities

• Assist planning and coordination of wastewater collection activities and personnel.
• Oversee daily collection system operations to ensure permit compliance and safety.
• Plan scheduling for repairs, connections, and emergency response to minimize service interruptions.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate repairs in a timely, economical manner.
• Investigate customer complaints and maintain system reliability using asset software.
• Provide on‑the‑job training and supervise subordinate personnel in routine functions.
• Operate heavy equipment safely and assist with budget development and bid specifications.
