Job summary

Homewood Disposal Inc. in Valparaiso is seeking a Scale House Operator to weigh incoming loads, greet customers, direct traffic, and ensure accurate payments at the transfer station.

This role supports safety and efficiency, with Monday–Friday 6:00am–4:00pm, occasional Saturdays, and opportunities to participate in training and additional data-entry or customer service tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or above required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail is essential.
• Hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Ability to quickly learn company software and systems.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and direct traffic at the transfer station.
• Weigh incoming loads and calculate payments.
• Direct vehicles to unloading areas and ensure safety.
• Check loads for material compliance and PPE.
• Maintain scale house and complete required reports.
• Handle data entry and basic customer service tasks.
