The Waste, Streets & Recycling (“WSR”) Assistant Managerassists in developing and implementing procedures for disposing ofwaste, hazardous waste, hazardous recycling, recycling, andcontaminated materials per governmental regulations and Universitygoals. The WSR Assistant Manager assists in developing systems totrack, purchase, and care for all waste, streets, and recyclingduties and infrastructure, including parking lots, snow and icecontrol, street sweeping, and recycling collection. The WSRAssistant Manager is responsible for the direct supervision of theequipment, employee time management, purchases, requisitions, andmanagement support. The WSR assistant manager is responsible forfilling in for the manager, supervisors, and CDL drivers in theevent of an absence and any time the need is presented. Workingindependently and as a team, exercising good judgment anddiscretion is essential to this job.
This position requires a high school diploma or GED. 5+ years ofexperience in administrative and managerial experience in groundsmaintenance, maintenance, waste, or recyclingpreferred—well-developed communications skills. CDL requires andreputable driving record. Previous experience managing and leadingcrews. Leadership experience, skills, and ability to problem solverequired. State Driver’s license and insurable with the company’sagent. Must understand, follow instructions, and work under limitedsupervision. Must work well with the public and co-workers andpresent a positive attitude. Exceptional self-management. Desire towork with a team to accomplish goals with the urgency to grow andimprove. Knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)and excellent computer skills are required. Clean and professionalappearance. Must be courteous, detailed oriented. Self-motivated,diligent, and trustworthy; possess strong organizational andplanning skills and well-developed communication skills. Must beable to lift 50+ pounds and perform duties of the Groundsmaintenance trade in a typical Virginia climate. Certificationsobtained while employed by Liberty University at the employer’sexpense will be reimbursed back to the University upon voluntarytermination (resignation) for the first 12 months after acquiringit.
The working environment in which one will typically perform theessential functions of this position is an office, shop, andoutdoor settings, and defined by the weather. While work involvessome exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures,toxic chemical, biohazardous materials, dirt dust, fumes, smoke,and/or loud noises; the use of Personal protective equipment willbe provided and required to be used. As necessary, must be able toclimb ladders and stairs, and access roofs and confinedspaces.
Use of one’s vehicle (or LU vehicles) is required for travel toperform the essential functions of this position. Proof of a validVirginia driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, and liabilityinsurance is required.

Market benchmarksmay be used, as appropriate, in combination with internal equity toensure pay is fair and aligned with the broader compensationstructure.
