Job summary

The Johnston County Solid Waste Department is seeking a full-time Site Attendant to assist the public with unloading and sorting solid waste and recyclables at a collection site. The role includes keeping the site clean, providing information on operations, and assisting disabled customers as needed.

They must be able to work in varying conditions, follow policies, and maintain basic records. The position is open until filled and may require operation of county vehicles and use of a two-way

Qualifications

Basic knowledge of policies for collection and sorting of waste and recyclables.
Ability to interpret and apply waste disposal policies.
Ability to establish effective working relations with the public and coworkers.
Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
Ability to maintain simple records of site activities.

Responsibilities

Greet and assist citizens unloading materials; explain recycling programs and answer questions.
Screen material for proper content and use of fee stickers.
Operate compactor equipment; grease and maintain it; clean area and mow grass.
Maintain simple records of site activities and visitors.
Operate two way radio to stay in contact with supervision and truck drivers.
