Job summary

Franklin County Government seeks a Solid Waste Site Attendant to engage with residents and assist at collection sites. You will help unload and sort waste, explain programs, and ensure the site remains neat and compliant with procedures.

The role involves outdoor work in varying temperatures, with attention to safety practices and straightforward record-keeping. A valid NC driver's license and reliable transportation are expected.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED is required.
• Experience dealing with the public or equivalent education/experience.
• Ability to read and write and follow written and oral instructions.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist citizens with unloading materials and sorting recyclables.
• Explain recycling programs and answer questions; assist with sorting and storage.
• Monitor the site and keep it clean and orderly inside and outside the fence.
• Assist with maintaining records and completing daily activity reports.
• Operate a two-way radio to stay in touch with supervision and drivers (if needed).
• Encourage and inform citizens about best practices and regulations.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
