Job summary

Montgomery County Public Schools in Clarksburg, MD, is seeking a Trash Services Worker for the Upcounty Dept. of Facility Operations.

The role involves loading/unloading trash, operating a trash compactor truck, and performing related tasks with heavy manual labor in various weather conditions. Requires completion of the ninth grade (HS or GED preferred) and a valid Maryland noncommercial Class C license with the ability to obtain a CDL Class B within 6 months.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of refuse pickup and disposal activities; and codes related to burnable and recyclable, and handling of disposal of hazardous/toxic materials.
• Knowledge of traffic and highway safety rules and regulations and the precautions necessary to avoid accidents.
• Willingness to perform routine and heavy manual work for an extended period under difficult weather conditions; ability to lift and carry heavy articles.
• Possession of a valid Maryland noncommercial Class C or equivalent driver’s license and the ability to acquire a CDL Class B within 6 months of starting date.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload trash from garbage collection routes and operate a trash disposal crew.
• Operate the compactor truck in the absence of the regularly assigned driver.
• Perform related work as directed in a physically demanding environment.
