Job summary

Meridian Waste is seeking a Driver Helper to ride on the vehicle and assist the Driver on a designated residential route, loading waste safely and transporting bags to the truck. The role supports vehicle operation and keeps the truck clean.

You will perform pre- and post-operation checks, interact courteously with customers and dispatchers, and follow safety policies. Some travel on required routes is expected, with solid waste experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma.
• 1-3 years of experience in a similar position.
• Experience in the Solid Waste Industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ride on the vehicle to assist the Driver while servicing customers on a designated route.
• Operate packing mechanism and levers to activate loading mechanism.
• Load waste safely and carry bags/containers to the vehicle.
• Perform pre- and post-operation vehicle inspections and report safety issues.
• Interact courteously with customers, dispatchers and others to ensure timely service.
• Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle and respond to spills safely.
