Job summary

The Planet Group in Dayton, OH is seeking a Waste Project Manager to oversee two facilities and coordinate onsite activities for the storage, transportation, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes. You will ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and supervise on-site personnel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field or six years of related experience.
• Positive customer service skills and experience in hazardous and solid waste.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Must pass a background check.
• Must pass a drug test.

Responsibilities

• Comply with management system policies and procedures.
• Manage client and vendor financial obligations, invoicing, reporting, record keeping, and contract management, while coordinating logistics for the transportation of hazardous, universal, and non-hazardous waste from client sites.
• Promote a culture of safety by ensuring site personnel receive proper training and comply with safety, environmental, federal, state, and local regulations.
• Proactively work with clients to establish reuse, reduction, and recycling options to help achieve waste targets.
• Track production, waste, and budget variances, routinely communicating status with clients and the Regional Manager.
• Read and interpret analytical data used to characterize waste streams.
• Identify out-of-scope and episodic projects, collaborating with the Regional Manager and clients to quote projects and profile materials before providing service.
• Maintain environmental compliance by conducting regulatory and client-specific inspections and audits applicable to the facility.
• Manage the contract according to the current budget and seek internal and external cost savings.
• Supervise personnel necessary to fulfill contract requirements.
• Complete all other assignments made by management and clients.
