Job summary

The City of Raleigh’s Solid Waste Services Department is seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor to oversee residential and commercial collection activities, ensuring safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance. You will lead staff, manage schedules, and coordinate with other departments to meet service goals.

This role requires strong leadership, budgeting, and data analysis skills, plus the ability to respond to customer inquiries and maintain records.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED is required.
5–7 years of experience in residential/commercial solid waste collection or supervisory roles.
Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

Supervise, manage, and evaluate assigned employees; handle hiring, discipline, and salary decisions.
Oversee daily solid waste operations and ensure a safe work environment.
Coordinate maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment; schedule repairs to minimize operational impact.
Monitor equipment readiness and maintain service records; manage work orders and reports.
Respond to customer inquiries and resolve service issues; liaise with city departments and vendors.
Maintain shop and inventory; ensure cleanliness and organization.
