Job summary

Republic Services is seeking a Gate Attendant/Scale Operator to monitor waste volumes, bill customers, and collect payments at our Santa Rosa site. The role involves handling cash, using scales and computer systems, and ensuring accurate daily receipts.

Responsibilities include screening loads, documenting entries, and coordinating with Operations on special waste. Strong cash handling and basic IT skills are required; a customer-service mindset helps in daily interactions.

Qualifications

• Experience in cash handling and balancing receipts.
• Experience using computers and various software programs.

Responsibilities

• Determine content of material entering facility to properly bill the customer.
• Accept or reject waste load based on content; suggest alternatives based on waste type and market training.
• Receive payment from customers; provide receipt to customers.
• Balance the daily receipts to ensure accurate recordkeeping and appropriate billing; deposit daily receipts into the safe depository.
• Document waste entering the facility using truck scales and computer systems; track total amount entering the facility.
• Notify operations of special waste or other incoming special loads; process required paperwork and perform other duties as necessary.
• Answer the telephone and provide general information to callers.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the work area.
• Perform other job-related duties, as assigned.
