Job summary

Wilson County Government seeks a reliable Waste Center Aide to support daily operations of the solid waste convenience centers. You will assist the public with refuse disposal, guide proper separation of materials, and help keep facilities clean, safe, and well organized.

Responsibilities include operating a compactor, monitoring gauge readings, directing traffic, and reporting maintenance or safety issues to supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; supplemented by 2 months previous experience and/or training involving solid waste disposal, manual work, or general maintenance work.

Responsibilities

• Opens/closes solid waste center daily and secures premises.
• Assists the public with disposal of refuse and guides proper separation of materials.
• Operates a compactor and monitors contents to prevent overflow; reports issues to supervisor.
• Cleans and maintains center facilities and grounds; performs routine maintenance and safety checks.
• Directs traffic within the center and follows safety procedures.
