Job summary

Fuse seeks an experienced Government Affairs leader in Washington, DC to drive its national policy and funding agenda. You will translate policy priorities into enacted language, shepherd appropriations, and build durable relationships with Congress and agencies, including the Pentagon, within a growing startup context.

You will lead a team, coordinate with founders and business leaders, and oversee external lobbying partners to advance Fuse’s mission in fusion energy and national security.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership with a strong reputation on the Hill and in government circles.
• Experience moving policy into legislative outcomes and NDAA/national security funding.
• Deep command of how federal budgets are built, and how authorizations and appropriations interact.

Responsibilities

• Design and drive Fuse’s government affairs strategy across business lines and fiscal years.
• Plan and execute campaigns across defense and energy & water authorizations and appropriations.
• Represent Fuse before Members of Congress and staff, and senior executive branch officials.
• Build relationships inside the Pentagon and other government agencies to align programs with budgets.
• Direct outside lobbyists and consultants and maintain accountability to outcomes.
