Job summary

Southern Ohio Medical Center is seeking an Assistant Help Desk Specialist to perform IS activities under the Help Desk Manager’s supervision. The role may involve any of the three shifts based on staffing needs and requires assisting users with software and hardware issues while maintaining accurate documentation.

Qualifications include a high school diploma, IT-related education at various levels, and several years of help desk or software development experience.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• Associates degree in IT preferred; bachelor degree with IT curriculum preferred or associate with software development certification preferred.

• Performs IS operational procedures.
• Assists users with software/hardware questions.
• Maintains shift documentation and asset information.
• Prioritizes and escalates calls; uses call tracking software to log issues.
• Provides desk, laptop, printer, and scanner support.

GENERAL SUMMARY

Works under the supervision of the Help Desk Manager. The Assistant Help Desk Specialist's primary job function is to perform, in order, all I.S. activities based upon operating instructions. Assist the Help Desk Manager in other tasks. This position may work on any of the three shifts as staffing requires. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• High School Diploma or successful completion of an equivalent High School Exam Required
• Associate Degree in IT - specific curriculum preferred
• Bachelor Degree with IT - specific curriculum preferred or, Associate Degree with Software Development Certification preferred

Licensure:

Experience:

• Three years of IT Help Desk experience preferred or, three years software development preferred

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

• Performs IS operational procedures
• Uses good interpersonal, verbal and written skills when dealing with customers.
• Monitors program display screens as directed.
• Verifies that reports for various users are complete before releasing them from the I.S. department.
• Maintains all documentation on each shift.
• Assists helpdesk clients with questions concerning software and hardware.
• Enters and updates asset information as necessary.
• Follows established procedures to assist customers with desktop, laptop, terminal, printers, and scanner issues.
• Prioritizes incoming calls and escalates to appropriate level as necessary.
• Utilizes call tracking software to record and resolve customer issues.
• Other duties as assigned.
