IAP, LLC is seeking an experienced supervisor for the Production Shop to assist the JLR Account Manager and oversee daily workloads, coordinate with shop staff, and monitor quality and timeliness of all work performed.

The role requires minimum 7 years in the automotive industry, technical experience in auto mechanics or accessory installation, strong problem solving, ability to train employees, and to enforce safety policies while ensuring production quotes are met.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a TWIC badge.
  • 7+ years of experience in the automotive industry; supervisory experience preferred.
  • Technical experience in auto mechanics or accessory installation.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and basic office tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise shop personnel and coordinate daily workloads.
  • Provide training and orientation for new and temporary staff.
  • Monitor quality and timeliness of work to meet production quotes.
  • Review time cards and hours worked; submit to Payroll weekly.
  • Maintain safe work environment and follow company policies.
  • Assist in hiring and participate in management meetings as needed.

Job description

Assist JLR Account Manager in the daily operations of the Production Shop. Supervise and communicate with shop employees regarding projected workloads and monitor the quality and timeliness of work performed. Insures employees receive proper training to promote quality workmanship. Perform technical duties including accessory installation and minor repair as needed to meet production quotes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Supervise and communicates with department personnel regarding work load for the day, week, etc. and direct them in their daily activities.
  • Reorder supplies, specialty tools, etc. as necessary to ensure adequate inventory is maintained.
  • Notify Production Shop Manager of barriers to complete workload.
  • Discipline and council employees as needed to comply with company policies and performance expectations.
  • Assist Manager in monitoring the timeliness of work to avoid backlog and interruptions of other operations.
  • Assist Manager in reviewing employee time cards, total hours worked, and flat rate hours produced for each employee and submit to Payroll weekly.
  • Provide training to employees as needed to facilitate adequate performance of job functions and to comply with company policies.
  • Provide orientation to new employees and temporary service employees, including proper work procedures, hazard communication standards and safe work practices.
  • Monitor the quality of work to ensure manufacturer and company expectations are met.
  • When needed, and with the assistance of Human Resources, select and hire new employees to maintain adequate staffing.
  • When needed and as required, participate in management meetings.
  • Keep abreast of all latest technical developments affecting accessory installations to ensure quality workmanship.
  • Performs technical duties of the Accessory Installer and minor mechanical repair work as necessary to meet production schedule and in accordance with the quality standards established.
  • Maintain a clean and hazard free work environment and follow all policies and procedures regarding safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must have and obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC Badge).
  • Must provide a 3-year Department of Motor Vehicle Report (DMV) with no more than 2 moving violations, no DUI convictions and no Reckless Driving.
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft.
  • Minimum of 7-years’ experience in automotive industry.
  • Must have technical experience in auto mechanics or accessory installation, preferably in a port processing operation.
  • High level problem solving and decision making.
  • Ability to drive both automatic and straight shift vehicles.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions and communicate clear and concise instructions to employees.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Ability to record and verify numbers 17 characters in length.
  • Ability to function within working conditions and physical requirements as described above.
  • Ability to work assigned hours. Including overtime and weekends as needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to lift or move objects weighing approximately 90 lbs. Must be able to regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; Must be able to frequently stand and walk. Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance. Must be able to see objects close up and must have the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Technical work performed in an open shop environment with no air conditioning and minimal heating. Moderate noise level. Periodically exposed to all outdoor elements including heat, cold, rain, insects and other conditions which may exist from time to time. Must be able to work in tight spaces or congested quarters.
