Job summary

HL Mando is seeking a Warranty Quality Engineer in Michigan to monitor North American warranty issues and coordinate with NAQC, HMA, and KUS to drive containment and root-cause resolution for quality concerns.

You will investigate warranty parts, perform DTC analysis with CANape, and generate weekly KPI reports while communicating risk and status in real time to stakeholders. Travel as required to support outbreak investigations and customer sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering or equivalent hands-on automotive experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication to report issues to engineers.
• Ability to identify root causes and support containment, rework, and basic problem-solving.
• Willingness to travel across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Responsibilities

• Follow up on QIR and manage required documentation; track warranty parts through final investigation.
• Generate weekly management reports including KPI trends.
• Coordinate customer meetings daily/weekly/monthly.

Job description

The Warranty Quality Engineer is responsible for monitoring and managing North American warranty issues related to Mando products to ensure timely investigation, containment, and resolution of quality concerns. This role serves as the primary liaison between North American Quality Control (NAQC), Hyundai Motor America (HMA), Kia USA (KUS), and Mando, facilitating effective communication and real-time reporting of warranty-related issues. The position supports cross-functional problem-solving activities by investigating root causes, verifying the implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions, and tracking key quality performance indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous product quality improvement and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned as needed):

• Monitoring of NA Warranty Issue - daily check of customer Warranty issues
• Initial investigation of issued Warranty parts -
• Communicate - be the link between NAQC,HMA,KUS and HL Mando, attend meetings, report problems in real time
• Support problem-solving - verify corrective actions, track quality KPIs (3M,12WM,36WM)
• External Quality Information Acquisition/Distribution : Recalls, NHTSA, etc
• Maintain a strong understanding of ES (Customer Engineering Specifications) to support accurate decision-making and guide future issue direction, including interim action evaluations.
• Utilize CANape for DTC analysis and diagnostics with a clear understanding of troubleshooting processes.
• Follow up on QIR, including full management of customer required documentation. Track warranty return part to ensure proper handling from initial inspection through Final investigation.
• New Car 100-Day Monitoring, North America External Quality Index (IQS, VDS)
• Generate weekly reports for upper management, including 3M trend analysis and investigation status updates.
• Manage and coordinate all customer meetings on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
• Drive global customer investigation meetings across the US, Mexico, and Korea to support deep-dive root cause analysis and corrective action activities.
• Take immediate ownership of quality issues
• Proactively communicate risks, issue status, and countermeasures in real time
• Validate corrective and preventative actions for local specialized environment and durability issues (with NAQC)

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering or relevant hands-on experience in automotive/manufacturing (3 years, minimum)
• Good communication to report issues to engineers
• Ability to find root cause and support containment, sorting, rework, and basic problem-solving
• Candidates must have no restrictions on business travel throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to clear understanding GD&T on drawing, prompt response to customer.
• Strong knowledge of DTC systems validations: CANape / Squadriga
• Ability to make real-time technical decisions to protect customer production

Legal Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years old due to federal labor law requirements.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Supervisory Responsibility: N/A

Working Conditions:

• Standard office environment with general administrative and computer-based duties. May also require long-term assignment or travel to OEM/customer sites as needed. Normal indoor working conditions with minimal exposure to hazards.

Physical Requirements:

• Position may require occasional lifting of materials/equipment, bending, and extended periods of standing or walking

Remote Work: Not eligible for remote or hybrid work.
