Job Description Anticipated Hiring Range: $21.96 – $28.01 This position is a part-time, temporary position and is contingent upon the City’s operational needs and available funding.
Job Summary
The Warrant Technician - Part-Time performs specialized records and criminal justice information functions related to the entry, maintenance, verification, and clearance of warrants. This position supports the Records Unit by ensuring warrant transactions are processed accurately, timely, and in accordance with applicable agency policies and state and federal criminal justice information requirements.
The position provides dedicated support for the warrant function, strengthens quality-control measures, and reduces the volume of warrant-related work distributed among Records staff.
Minimum Requirements
Experience, Education, and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to successfully complete required background screening and obtain and maintain applicable criminal justice information system certifications and access.
- Valid state drivers license.
OR
- Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job,
AND
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
Preferred
- Previous experience in law enforcement records, warrants, courts, dispatch, criminal justice information systems, or a related field.
- Experience with CCIC/NCIC or comparable state and federal criminal justice information systems.
- Experience entering, modifying, clearing, validating, or conducting quality-control reviews of warrants or other criminal justice records.

- Ability to accurately enter, review, and maintain detailed information in computerized records systems.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies in names, dates, identifiers, charges, and other critical information.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive criminal justice information.
- Ability to organize and prioritize time-sensitive work with minimal supervision.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong accuracy and quality-control skills.
- Knowledge of, or ability to learn, warrant terminology and procedures.
- Ability to interpret court and warrant documentation.
- Ability to follow detailed state, federal, and agency procedures.
- Sound judgment when handling confidential information.
- Ability to recognize errors and discrepancies before they affect operational records.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining established performance and quality standards.
Travel
- Category A-Standard Local Travel: This position requires occasional local travel within the County. Employees may be expected to walk or drive short distances to attend meetings, trainings, or perform work at other city buildings or partner sites.
Essential Functions
- Enter warrants into the appropriate local, state, and federal criminal justice information systems in accordance with established procedures and applicable requirements.
- Review warrant documentation to ensure required information is complete and accurate prior to entry.
- Modify existing warrant records when updated or corrected information is received.
- Clear warrants promptly upon receipt of appropriate documentation or confirmation that the warrant is no longer active.
- Perform second checks of warrant entries, modifications, clears, and related transactions to verify accuracy and compliance.
- Compare source documentation against system entries to ensure identifying information, charges, warrant information, dates, and other required data have been entered correctly.
- Identify discrepancies, incomplete information, or potential errors and coordinate corrections before transactions are finalized.
- Maintain accurate documentation of warrant entries, modifications, clears, and quality-control reviews.
- Follow established procedures for handling confidential and criminal justice information.
- Communicate with Records personnel, law enforcement personnel, courts, and other authorized criminal justice agencies as necessary to resolve warrant-related discrepancies.
- Prioritize warrant transactions based on operational urgency and applicable processing requirements.
- Assist with warrant-related audits, validations, quality assurance reviews, and records reconciliation as assigned.
- Maintain required certifications and complete applicable training related to criminal justice information systems and warrant processing.
- Perform other related Records or criminal justice information duties as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Environment
- Heavy public contact in person and by telephone.
- Works primarily in an office environment.
- Extended periods of time at a fixed workstation.
Physical Requirements
- Vision enough to read computer keyboards, reference books, and other written documents.
- Communication skills to interface with other departments and agencies.
- Manual dexterity enough to operate computer keyboards, other office equipment, and to complete paperwork.
