Job summary

Johns Manville is seeking a forklift operator to load, unload, and move product and material at the plant, yard, or work site. You will be responsible for safe handling and efficient forklift operations to prepare products for shipment.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and a IIG Forklift Certification, with strong reading, writing and math skills. Regular attendance is essential, and safety PPE is provided and required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; ten years in role with demonstrated skill.
• IIG Forklift Certification.
• Ability to read, write and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.

Responsibilities

• Inspect forklift daily.
• Operate forklift and perform lifting and handling safely.
• Stack cartons in trailer to maximize space.
• Unloads materials onto or from pallets.
• Identify product size and date codes on cartons.
• Prepare product for LTL shipments.
• Operate Spot Truck.
• Identify damaged product and segregate to avoid shipping defective goods.
• Consolidate and inspect material to maintain inventory integrity.
• Count products for month-end and year-end counts.
• Follow safety rules and wear PPE.
• Attend safety trainings and complete assignments.
• Maintain attendance and perform other duties as directed.

Compensation

The base hourly rate for this position is $17.94. This is a non-production position loading, unloading and moving product and material within or near the plant, yard, or work site. This position skillfully loads trucks for shipment of product.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Inspect forklift daily.
• Operate forklift While using forklift performs proper lifting and handling methods for handling product safely and without damage to product.
• Stack cartons in trailer to maximize space.
• Unloads materials onto or from pallets.
• Identify product size and understand date code markings on cartons.
• Prepare product for LTL shipments.
• Operate Spot Truck.
• Identify damaged product and segregate so defective product will not be shipped to customers.
• Consolidate and inspect all material to ensure product/inventory integrity.
• Count products in warehouse for month-end and year-end inventory counts.
• Always use safe work practices, follows all safety rules and procedures, immediately reports any hazardous conditions, fully participate in safety programs.
• Perform safety observations and complete training assignments.
• Wears all personal protective equipment as required by management, including but not limited to all or some of the following; protective shoes, glasses, ear plugs, bump cap or hard hat, gloves, dust mask or respirator.
• Regular attendance is required.
• Performs other duties as directed.
