Overview
This position is a 2nd shift role but could also be 1st shift, with the flexibility to work 3rd shift on an as-needed basis.
This role requires a self-starter working in various warehouses to receive, locate, and issue materials, supporting the material kitting process in alignment with ship schedules. The position may be located in a primary warehouse or a work-in-process area. Warehouses are both indoor and outdoor, and lifting and handling various weights for receiving and issuing materials are required.
Responsibilities:
- Have a basic understanding of how to use computers and tools such as handheld devices and tablets to support warehouse material systems, enabling electronic receipts, material picks, tracking, and issuance.
- Familiarity with receiving and issuing hazardous materials and MSDS requirements is a plus.
- Understand computer systems to access and update EB's ITS (Inventory Tracking System), MRP II, Electronic Work Package (EWP), Pitch Catch, ROMIS, and other systems for procedures and training.
- Operate a forklift and potentially work at heights up to 40 feet using a forklift.
- Obtain a forklift license within Electric Boat within the first month.
- Have basic math skills to support receipt and issuance of linear measure materials and potentially cut materials to specified dimensions.
- May require boarding a submarine for loading On-Board Repair Parts (OBRPs).
Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 5+ years of warehousing experience or similar roles involving receiving, locating, segregating, and issuing materials
- Good understanding of computers/tablets
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors
- Strong math skills, including unit conversions (e.g., square foot to square inch)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the Department of Defense
- Availability to work all shifts (this is a 2nd shift role)
Preferred:
- Experience with inventory applications on computers or tablets
- Previous forklift operation experience
