Job summary

Metals USA is seeking a Packager for our Liberty, MO location. The Packager will receive, place into stock, and prepare items for shipment under supervision. 2nd shift offers a $1.50/hr shift premium.

Metals USA is a leading metals processor and distributor serving defense, construction, and road fabrication industries. The role involves packaging, inventory control, and use of material handling equipment in a growing, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Able to read and write in English.
• Understand and follow Safety Rules, OSHA standards and procedures.
• Exercise good judgment and follow company policies.
• Able to read measuring tape and caliper.
• Able to lift/carry 50 lbs.
• Warehouse experience preferred.
• Forklift and overhead crane experience.
• Experience with heavy equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Package bundles by applying metal strapping around width and length of material.
• Place paper corner protectors per specs to protect customer product.
• Use packaging equipment to tighten metal strapping around bundles.
• Check parts to ensure correct size produced.
• Operate material handling equipment such as cranes, forklifts, and side loaders.
• Move and stock products, materials, and supplies into/out of storage areas.
• Interpret and anticipate material requirements at work centers.
• Maintain warehouse area in neat, organized condition and keep area clean.
• Identify defects and package designated items.
• Perform any other duties assigned by management.
