Job description

Warehouse Worker

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Convey materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or designated locations.
  • Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or bins according to size, type, style, color, or product code.
  • Store perishable goods in refrigerated rooms or freezers.
  • Respond to requests for materials, tools, or stock items and distribute them to production workers or the assembly line.
  • Assemble customer orders from stock and place them on pallets or shelves, or convey orders to packing or shipping departments.
  • Mark materials with identifying information and record quantities received or distributed.
  • Utilize the Warehouse Management System (WMS) to update production, shipping, receiving, and inventory data accurately.
  • Ship finished products and complete all related documentation following approved Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Receive raw materials and complete all related documentation as per SOPs.
  • Perform trailer inspections and document accordingly in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Monitor job tasks to ensure food safety and quality, reporting any concerns promptly to supervisors or QA Department.
  • Weigh or count items for distribution to ensure they meet company standards.
  • Arrange stock materials in specified sequence for assembly.
  • Drive vehicles to transport stored items within the warehouse or for shipment pickup.
  • Prepare samples or parcels for mailing.
  • Follow policies, procedures, and proper use of equipment and materials.
  • Observe safety and security procedures, reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain inventory records and perform cycle counts as needed.

Qualifications:

Willingness to operate various types of forklifts is required.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or GED; or 6-12 months of related experience/training. Forklift experience preferred.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as schedules, reports, safety rules, and manuals. Effective speaking and writing skills are necessary.

Computer Skills:

Proficient in typing and computer use, including Internet, inventory software, order processing, MS Excel, MS Word, and Office 365. Knowledge of WMS and handheld scanning devices is required.

Certificates and Licenses:

Must obtain and maintain a valid forklift and pallet jack operator's license within seven days of hire.

Physical Demands:

Regularly sit, use hands, reach, and talk/hear. Occasionally stand, walk, and lift/move up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities include close, distance, color, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Work Environment:

Occasional exposure to wet/humid conditions. Noise levels vary from moderate to loud, requiring hearing protection in production areas.
