Socket.dev is seeking a Warehouse Training & Safety Coordinator to oversee safety initiatives, training programs, and policy adherence at our Portland, ME facility. The role reports to the Director of Quality and Safety and focuses on creating a safe, compliant, and efficient work environment.

You will train new employees in PIV operation, safety, and job duties, maintain SOPs and training records, and conduct refresher sessions to ensure ongoing compliance with state and federal regulations.

Description

The Warehouse Training & Safety Coordinator is responsible for ensuring a safe, compliant, and efficient work environment by overseeing training programs, safety initiatives, and ensuring all processes, best practices, and policies are adhered to consistently. This position reports to the Director of Quality and Safety.

Essential Functions

The primary function of the Warehouse Training and Safety Coordinator is to train all new employees in PIV operation, safety, and operational job duties.

Core Responsibilities

Training & Development:

• Train in appropriate programs for all new warehouse employees.
• Maintain training materials, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), forklift certifications and all other materials related to an employee’s training record.
• Conduct periodic refresher training sessions.
• Maintain accurate training records in compliance with state and federal regulations.

Safety & Compliance:

• Enforce workplace safety policies in accordance with Company policy and procedure.
• Perform safety and training compliance audits as requested by the Director of Quality and Safety.
• Work with Operations Managers to investigate accidents, near-misses, and safety violations.
• Oversee the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensure compliance with hazardous materials handling requirements (if applicable).

Culture & Continuous Improvement:

• Encourage employee participation in safety initiatives and report unsafe conditions without fear of retaliation (in line with OSHA whistleblower protections).
• Collaborate with management to align safety and training strategies with operational goals.

Requirements

• Knowledgeable in Forklift operation and Safety Rules & Regulations. Able to train warehouse equipment including all types of forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.

• Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA standards and workplace safety regulations.
• Preferred certifications: OSHA 30-Hour, First Aid/CPR, forklift trainer certification, or other safety/training credentials.
• Regular travel to our other locations is required.
