Job summary

Interstate Batteries seeks a Warehouse Team Member I to perform distribution center tasks with RF scanning and various equipment. You will handle receiving, picking, packing, and shipping, load and unload batteries, and keep a safe, clean work area.

No prior experience required, but familiarity with warehouse tech and a high level of accuracy are valued. Ability to learn systems and meet pace is essential.

Qualifications

• High school graduate and reliable team member.
• Written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills.
• No experience required; warehouse operations experience is a plus (RF equipment, forklift, pallet jacks).
• Working knowledge of computers or ability to learn systems.
• High degree of accuracy, sense of urgency, and organized.

Responsibilities

• Accurately process receiving, transfers, pick, pack, and ship transactions.
• Load and unload batteries; restock and rotate inventory.
• Maintain safety, cleanliness, and proper warehouse reporting.
• Operate forklift and maintain current certification.
• Tag pallets and perform general warehousing duties as assigned.
• Multi-task and transition between functions as needed.

Purpose of Job

The Warehouse Team Member I has the ability to accurately and efficiently complete assigned distribution center tasks using a variety of equipment including RF barcode scanning devices, material handling equipment - electric and manual pallet jacks, stand-up and sit-down forklifts, WMS applications, and other shipping applications.

Job Components

• Accurately process system and manual transactions (receiving, transfer, pick, pack, ship)
• Load and unload batteries
• Restock batteries
• Charge, clean, date and rewrap rotations
• Charge, test, clean, and date adjustment batteries
• Maintain a safe and clean warehouse environment
• Accurately maintain warehouse reporting and claims
• Operate a forklift and maintain a current certification
• Properly tag pallets (for transfer, pick, pack, ship)
• General warehousing duties (such as restocking shelves and housekeeping of assigned areas)
• Ability to multi-task and/or quickly transition from one function/task to the next function/task
• Other warehouse duties as assigned by warehouse distributor management

Qualifications

• High school graduate
• Written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills
• No experience required. Experience in warehouse operations preferred - including RF/HH equipment, forklift, electric pallet jack and stretch-wrap machine preferably in warehouse environment
• Working knowledge of computers or ability to learn applicable systems required
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Sense of urgency and well organized

Work Environment

• Be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs, without assistance and occasionally lifting up to 75lbs
• Consistent walking or walking during shift
• Repetitive taping of boxes
• Overtime required as deemed necessary
• Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required
• Exposed to battery warehouse conditions, such as exposure to moving equipment, mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals
