Job summary

Alfa Laval is seeking a motivated Materials Handler Lead to coordinate daily plans for the material handling team in our Virginia facility. You will assign resources, resolve discrepancies, train staff, and drive continuous improvement through ERP-driven processes.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years warehouse logistics experience.
• 2–4 years material handling equipment experience.
• Experience with handheld barcode scanners (Zebra preferred).
• Experience with BOMs, pick lists, and manufacturing documents.
• Experience with ERP systems (Microsoft D365 preferred).
• Attention to detail; self-starter; team player; organized; good communication; cooperative; flexible; engaged in problem solving & improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of material handlers to ensure accurate, timely parts picking.
• Coordinate with other warehouse/logistics teams to resolve issues.
• Train team members to a high level of ERP system competency.
• Review, plan, coordinate, and support daily work with ALPS priorities (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost).
• Drive daily ALPS Performance Meetings and weekly Improvement Meetings.
• Run daily shift startup/handover meetings.
• Participate in projects and improvement initiatives.
• Assist in Problem Resolution Process to determine root causes and sustainable solutions.
• Provide departmental training and write/audit SOPs.
• Own material handling activities with production and coordinate with inventory.
• Collaborate with inventory to resolve discrepancies.
• Serve as liaison between dept., support functions, and Team Manager.
• Multi-task, self-manage, and prioritize to meet deadlines.
