Overview
Under general supervision, the Warehouse Team Lead supports the Site Supervisor and Warehouse Manager by providing direction and instruction to team members within their department. The role involves guiding employees, communicating department goals, ensuring production targets are met, and promoting safety practices.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all employees and activities operate within safety standards.
- Assist the team with warehouse processes and system issues.
- Use Warehouse Management System (WMS) for shipping and inventory tracking.
- Operate powered tools such as hand trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, cherry pickers, clamps, reach trucks, etc.
- Complete forklift certification if required.
- Stage products for shipment.
- Load and unload shipments.
- Participate in weekly cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy.
- Assemble orders and prepare goods for shipment.
- Record shipment data, including weight, charges, and space availability.
- Handle materials from receiving to designated storage locations.
- Facilitate outbound shipments using proper packing and third-party services.
- Fulfills orders via will call, delivery, or installation.
- Receive and unpack materials and supplies.
- Report damages and discrepancies for reimbursement or re-shipment.
- Maintain logs of all shipments.
- Manage requisitions and distribute materials and tools accordingly.
- Allocate products to appropriate storage locations based on size, type, or code.
- Prepare monthly reports on production and volume.
- Handle hazardous materials following safety procedures.
- Examine incoming shipments, reject damaged items, and record shortages.
- Post weights and shipping charges, and affix postage.
- Follow safety practices and contribute to a positive safety culture.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of experience in warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, or production.
- At least 1 year of forklift operation experience if required.
- Experience with power tools like cherry pickers, reach trucks, pallet jacks, etc.
- Material handling experience is essential.
- Knowledge of scanning equipment, database tracking, dollies, and carts.
- Successful completion of CBPS Safety Training and equipment handling procedures.
- Forklift certification if applicable.
- Basic computer skills.
Physical Demands
- Physical activities including bending, reaching, lifting, and standing.
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to count, log data, and understand safety requirements.
- Good organizational skills.
- Experience with powered tool equipment.
- Wearing personal protective equipment as required.
- Proper handling of hazardous materials.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work environment.
- Compliance with OSHA and MSDS standards.
