Job summary:
The Supervisor plans and schedules the work of the department, directs, motivates, and trains department employees to assure the optimal utilization of employees and equipment and material according to all order fulfillment requirements – quality, timeliness, and cost. The supervisor is fully accountable for ensuring the quality of the products and services produced in the processes supervised.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide necessary training and reinforcement to employees to ensure they understand and can apply the skills required to produce quality products according to Greene Tweed and customer requirements.
- Maintain staffing levels on a daily basis, on all shifts to assure maximum effective utilization of employees, equipment and material, within budgeting constraints to accomplish cost center’s mission.
- Directs employees and monitors equipment and material quality continuously to ensure all three elements are coordinated to provide Greene Tweed products which always meet customer requirements for quality and timeliness.
- Initiates communication between shifts and departments on a consistent basis. Provides direction, addresses issues and maintains availability to operators to answer questions.
- Ensures inventory accuracy and cycle counting inventories.
- Ensures quality of shipped items as to the packaging requirements and shipping directions.
- Administers Company rules and regulations, initiate and recommend corrective actions, including administration of Company work rules.
- Administer Company safety policies.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Education/Certifications:
- HS Diploma/GED required; Preference given to candidates with BS Degree
- Lean/Six Sigma certification desired
Skills and Experience:
- 5+ years warehouse/logistics experience required; Ideal candidate will have 3 years’ direct supervision experience in a manufacturing environment
- Previous experience in a Lean manufacturing environment, focused on continuous improvement and High Performance Work teams desired
- Demonstrated ability to lead by example, serving as a positive role model to others and embracing standard work required
- Strong communication skills required, including the ability to effectively communicate across multiple levels in the organization.
- Metric driven/analytical problem solving experience required - root cause analysis/six sigma training a plus
- Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
