Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Direct, coordinate and supervise warehouse staff to ensure safe, efficient operations.
  • Monitor inventory levels, conduct audits and maintain accurate stock records.
  • Enforce safety protocols and manage forklift operations and spotter trucks.
  • Train and cross-train associates, provide coaching and address attendance issues.
  • Maintain quality control by following SOPs and addressing defects and gaps.
  • Oversee equipment maintenance and communicate issues to stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with production, logistics and QA to ensure timely delivery.
  • Lead Start of Shift briefings and document shift notes and performance.

Job Summary

The warehouse supervisor is responsible for overseeing all warehouse activities related to the receipt, storage, and shipment of goods in a manufacturing environment.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Supervising warehouse operations:
    • Directing, coordinating and following up on the activities of warehouse staff to ensure efficient and safe operation of the facility
    • Troubleshoot process bottlenecks and coordinate with other areas as needed
    • Partner with peers and manager on scheduling, overtime and staffing decisions
  • Inventory management:
    • Monitoring inventory levels, conducting regular audits, and ensuring accurate stock records in collaboration with the production team
  • Safety compliance:
    • Enforcing safety protocols and procedures to maintain a secure work environment, especially when dealing with forklift operators and spotter trucks
  • Training and development:
    • Train and cross train associates on processes and equipment
    • Provide real-time coaching, recognition, and corrective feedback
    • Support new-hire onboarding and continuous training efforts
    • Manage attendance issues and elevate HR concerns as needed
  • Quality control:
    • Implementing quality assurance processes to ensure products are stored and handled correctly to prevent damage or spoilage
    • Audit all workflows for accuracy and adherence to SOPs
    • Address defects, rework and gaps in process while reinforcing best practices
  • Equipment maintenance:
    • Overseeing the maintenance and repair of spotter trucks and other warehouse equipment to ensure they are in good working condition
    • Proactively identify and communicate opportunities to stakeholders to ensure issues are resolved while minimizing negative impacts to product
  • Communication:
    • Coordinating with other departments such as production, logistics, and quality control to ensure smooth operations and timely delivery of goods
    • Effectively run Start of Shift meetings with your teams on a daily basis
    • Run shift hand off updates and communicate changes to process or priorities
    • Capture shift notes, incidents and performance highlights
  • Problem-solving:
    • Addressing any issues or concerns that arise in the warehouse and implementing sustainable solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness
    • Conduct effective root cause analysis on operational opportunities and execute on corrective actions with a sense of urgency
Education and Experience Profile
  • Bachelor’s or Associate's degree preferred 3-5 years of experience or equivalent
  • Combination of education and experience
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • SAP experience strongly preferred
Required Skills
  • Strong computer skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook and SAP
  • Strong mathematical ability, organization skills and attention to detail
  • Strong motivational, effectual team building and decision-making skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, effectively manage time and resolve crises
  • Able to operator a forklift
Work Environment
  • Up to 100% Manufacturing/Warehouse
  • Willingness to work OT and weekends when necessary.
