The Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations within their assigned team/area, ensuring that employees follow processes efficiently, maintain quality standards, and adhere to safety guidelines. This role ensures that the team adheres to industry standards like R2v3 certification, ISO 9001 quality management, and ISO 14001 environmental compliance. The Supervisor ensures that security, safety, and operational standards are consistently met while driving continuous improvement in processes and staff performance using LEAN as a foundation.


Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Supervise and coordinate daily operations of the team, ensuring assets are processed and tracked accurately and in compliance with R2v3 standards.
  • Mentor and develop staff to ensure understanding of processes, compliance with safety standards, and operational objectives.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and employee engagement.

Asset Management & Compliance:

  • Ensure strict adherence to IT asset handling procedures, from receipt to final disposition, including data sanitization, destruction, and recycling in line with R2v3 and ISO standards.
  • Oversee the chain-of-custody protocols to maintain the integrity and security of IT assets from collection to disposition.
  • Maintain detailed records of asset processing and ensure accurate reporting for audits and compliance.

Operational Efficiency:

  • Work with engineering a site management to Implement Lean and 5S methodologies to streamline processing, reduce waste, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Ensure that all workstations and equipment are organized according to 5S principles (Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) to maximize workflow efficiency.
  • Monitor throughput and inventory levels, ensuring timely asset disposition and alignment with business objectives.

Safety & Security:

  • Enforce safety protocols, ensuring that all employees use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow security guidelines to prevent unauthorized access to data-bearing devices.
  • Support regular safety audits and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards and Sprout’s security policies.
  • Report and manage any safety incidents or security breaches, implementing corrective actions as needed.

Quality Control & Certification Compliance:

  • Ensure that the process complies with R2v3 and ISO 9001 standards, by supporting regular audits and implementing corrective actions to address non-conformities.
  • Monitor quality assurance processes, ensuring assets are handled according to defined protocols, with data sanitization processes rigorously followed.

Performance Tracking & Reporting:

  • Monitor team performance metrics, including processing throughput, security compliance, and asset tracking accuracy, providing regular reports to upper management.
  • Address performance issues through coaching, retraining, or corrective action plans, ensuring that team objectives align with overall business goals.

Continuous Improvement & Problem-Solving:

  • Conduct regular GEMBA walks to observe workflows, gather feedback from employees, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Support Kaizen events and process improvement initiatives within the ITAD facility, identifying bottlenecks and inefficiencies and developing solutions.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or management role, preferably within ITAD or a related field.

Knowledge:

  • Deep understanding of IT asset handling processes, including receiving, data sanitization, and equipment disposal.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Lean, 5S, and Kaizen methodologies.
  • Demonstrated understanding of data security and chain-of-custody protocols.
  • Familiarity with R2v3 certification and ISO standards.
  • Ability to accurately type 40 words per minute.
  • Proficient in basic arithmetic.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Experience with hand tools (power drill, pliers, etc.).
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for an entire 8-hour shift.
  • Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled warehouse environment.
  • Willingness to work overtime, including weekends, when needed.
  • Adaptability to changing tasks and expectations.

Education or Certification:

  • High School Diploma or GED required, bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, IT management, or a related field preferred.
  • IT related certification(s) as applicable (ACMT, CCT, MTA, CompTIA).
  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher) highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of data security protocols and standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) is a plus.
