PRIMARY PURPOSE

Oversee the department functions, associates, and meets and maintains production standards for receiving or shipping department assigned. Handles all daily issues and projects under the direction of the Operations Manager. Works with all Distribution Center Departments, Transportation, and Inventory Management to ensure the timely and safe movement of product. Hold associates accountable for providing retail and our customers the best quality product possible.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Supervises day to day activities of department of business unit and assigned staff.
2. Supervise associate performance through performance planning, coaching, appraisal, and disciplinary efforts.
3. Responsible for assisting in hiring, training, and developing of all new and existing associates.
4. Work with all applicable departments to ensure efficient and accurate flow of inventory in and out of the distribution center.
5. Work with business partners and unload service to ensure they are fully staffed and supporting distribution operations in a safe manner.
6. Observe department staffing daily and make adjustments where needed.
7. Verify daily that associates are on a Labor Management assignment.
8. Hold departmental meetings as expected.
9. Communicate and administer disciplinary action to associates who violate company policy.
10. Communicate with appropriate individuals/departments during the shift that may affect other warehouse departments.
11. Supervise associates' time and attendance.
12. Efficiently lead the associates of the department toward attaining their individual and combined goals through hands-on guidance.
13. Help meet department operational and budget goals.
14. Provide accurate reporting information to DC Leadership Team and others.
15. Provide project/task leadership as assigned.
16. Make recommendations for modifications to procedures or processes impacting their work group or center that will maximize efficiency, productivity, and reduce costs.
17. Ensure compliance with established standards in the areas of accuracy, safety, and productivity.
18. Aggressively pursue waste and inefficiencies in their operation.
19. Target potential improvements and work with teams to improve working environment and product throughput.
20. Act as "change agent" to drive "lean" education and utilization.
21. Play a key role in the development of a Continuous Improvement mindset in our operations in order to better service our customers and provide and support training for associates to support continuous improvement ideas.
22. Accountable for "lean" process sustainability within assigned operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. High School Education or equivalent.
2. Certified on powered industrial equipment where applicable.
3. 1 - 3 years distribution warehouse experience.
4. Familiarity with a distribution environment.
5. Basic understanding of business financial reports and information.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

1. Ability to supervise or manage multiple tasks and shift priorities in a fast-paced environment.
2. Ability to communicate and complete required record-keeping functions.
3. Ability to articulate and align associates with department and business goals.
4. Must be able to work needed schedule to perform assigned duties.
5. Ability to work in a -5 degree to 90+ degree Fahrenheit environment (temperature varies within each department) for long periods of time.
