Job summary

MSA Safety is seeking a Warehouse Supervisor for the Cranberry Township, PA facility. The role oversees shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations, driving KPI metrics and inventory control while ensuring safety and compliance with ISO and SOP standards.

The candidate will lead a team, manage scheduling, and coordinate with carriers for domestic and international shipments, including HazMat, with exposure to weekly KPI reviews and budget considerations.

Responsibilities

Now hiring for a Warehouse Supervisor at our Cranberry Township, PA manufacturing plant. The key responsibilities include:

  • Accountability for shipping on time and in full as it relates to Invoicing.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining accountability and fostering a cohesive team environment.
  • Management of warehouse, shipping, and receiving metrics.
  • Assisting operators with preparation for same day domestic, international, and hazardous material shipments via expedited carrier services as needed.
  • Overseeing inventory management, record retention, and the cycle count program.
  • Scheduling routine maintenance on department equipment.
  • Ensuring performance plans are set, maintained and continuously improved.
  • Generating process improvement solutions and participating in various company meetings.
  • Direct, schedule, coordinate and supervise day-to-day operations:
  • Overseeing operations and supervising staff responsible for shipping, receiving, and storeroom.
  • Plans work including assigning, instructing, directing, and assisting associates.
  • Handles day-to-day personnel issues, counseling, and disciplinary actions.
  • Accountable for shipping on time and in full as it relates to Invoicing
  • Manages receipt, storage, and shipment of materials, and related reporting.
  • Ensures the maintenance of equipment and work areas.
  • Maintains a cohesive team environment.
  • Establish effective lines of communications between staff and management or other internal departments and co-ordinates work activities within department to ensure highest possible productivity.
  • Maintains constant communication with internal and external customers.
  • Assisting associates with problem solving, inquiries, and handles escalated customer issues.
  • Adjusts schedules/expedites operations to meet unplanned changes in production schedules.
  • Assists with international and hazardous material shipments.
  • Recommends and assists in the implementation of unit goals and objectives.
  • Monitors compliance to all company policies, procedures, standards and goals.
  • Recommends and implements process and procedure changes, leading to increased efficiency and effectiveness of material control processes.
  • Oversees delivery performance and inventory accuracy through cycle count program.
  • Responsible for performance and leadership of a department, accountable for performance management and hire/fire decisions.
  • Travel estimated less than 1-10%.
Safety
  • Manages a safe workplace by advocating incident prevention and preparedness (e.g. near-hits, ergonomics).
  • Eliminates safety hazards and promotes a safe work environment.
  • Conduct or arrange department safety training.
  • Conducts or participates in regular safety meetings.
Training
  • Coordinates and/or conducts temporary, new hire or transferred associate training (orientation, etc.).
  • Coordinates site DOT efforts and power truck licensing program.
  • Performs on the job training for associates to meet customer expectations and to adhere to ISO and Standard Operating Procedures specifications.
  • Ensure training records are prepared and retained as required.
  • Information and Data Monitoring:
  • Completes and documents revisions to ISO / department procedures.
  • Management of Warehouse, Shipping, and Receiving Metrics. Facilitate weekly KPI departmental meetings. Metrics include cycle counts; daily shipping and receiving data; shipping errors.
  • Participate in budget preparation and administration.
  • Monitors and controls expenditures.
  • Responsible for the management of the departmental budget.
Troubleshooting
  • Troubleshoots SAP delivery problems, missed deliveries, stock adjustments, and looks for missing material.
  • Schedules preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment.
  • Works with support staff to correct issues that arise.
  • Responds to customer service inquiries as needed.
Qualifications
Experience and Education Requirements

This position will be considered at 3 levels based on education and experience:

Level 1
  • Two years of experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
  • One year previous supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Related military experience may be considered for supervisor and / or work experience.
  • Associate’s degree in a related field or educational academic equivalent.
  • Two years of supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or military setting may be substituted for an associate’s degree.
  • Ability and expectation to obtain HazMat certification.
Level 2
  • Five years of experience in warehouse or inventory management.
  • Two years previous supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Related military experience may be considered for supervisor and / or work experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or other related disciplines.
  • Ability and expectation to obtain HazMat certification.
Level 3
  • Three years of supervisory or leadership experience (can include Group Leader experience).
  • Four years’ working experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
  • Related military experience may be substituted for up to 2 years of supervisory and/or work experience.
  • Associate’s degree in related field or educational academic equivalent.
  • Five + years of supervisory or leadership experience (can include Group Leader experience) in a manufacturing, warehouse, or military setting if using experience only to meet education requirement.
Both
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to plan, schedule, and coordinate work and organize daily activities.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong skills in Excel and ability to generate reports, ERP system, UPS, FedEx, DHL.
  • Strong math and analytical ability.
  • Ability to operate at a level that meets or exceeds quality and productivity standards established in work area.
Experience and Education Preferred in addition to above
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Working experience in SAP and with WMS (Warehouse Management System).
  • DOT experience.
  • Experience with hazardous material shipping.
  • Experience with fork trucks and fork truck training.
  • Proficient training others.
  • Experience in materials coordination and inventory control.
  • Proven ability to review and analyze inventory reports.
  • Experience in Lean, 6-Sigma, Continuous Improvement, and EHS initiatives.
  • Certified Planning and Inventory Management (CPIM).
