Job summary

SGS Consulting is seeking a Warehouse Operations Lead in Columbus to manage daily functions, drive continuous improvement, and ensure safe, compliant, and cost-effective material flow. You will lead a 15+ person team and coordinate with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Transportation, and Customer Service.

The role emphasizes inventory accuracy, process optimization, and data-driven decision making to meet business and customer requirements in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of relevant experience in a Warehouse or Distribution environment.
• Leading teams of 15+ people.
• Knowledge of Lean, 5S, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and DMAIC.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily warehouse operations including receiving, put away, inventory management, order fulfillment, and shipping.
• Ensure inventory accuracy and efficient material flow to meet requirements.
• Drive operational excellence by monitoring performance, resolving issues, and optimizing layouts.
• Maintain compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards and promote workplace safety.
• Lead, coach, and develop warehouse staff to achieve safety, quality, productivity, and cost objectives.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Transportation, and Customer Service for seamless execution.
• Analyze metrics and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency, service levels, and cost performance.

Job Responsibilities:

• Lead daily warehouse operations, including receiving, put away inventory management, order fulfillment, and shipping activities.
• Ensure inventory accuracy and efficient material flow to meet business and customer requirements.
• Drive operational excellence by monitoring performance, resolving issues, optimizing warehouse layouts, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards while fostering a strong culture of workplace safety.
• Lead, coach, and develop warehouse team members to achieve safety, quality, productivity, and cost objectives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Transportation, and Customer Service, to ensure seamless operational execution.
• Analyze operational metrics and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency, service levels, and cost performance.

Skills:

• Strong understanding of material logistics processes, inventory accuracy/systems, andproduction/order requirements.
• Experience with ERP & WMS systems (SAP S/4HANA preferred) preferred)
• Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, 5S, Kaizen, Six Sigma, DMAIC).
• Experience supporting audits, compliance programs, and operational standardization.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including interaction with senior leadership and cross-functional teams

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's Degree preferred, not required. Equivalent experience and skills can be substituted for education3+ years of relevant experience in a Warehouse or Distribution environment with at least 2 of these years in a leadership role (leading teams of 15+).
