Job summary

UNFI in Champaign, IL is seeking a Warehouse Supervisor to lead daily distribution center operations. You will supervise shipping/receiving, manage inventory accuracy, and drive efficiency using WMS reporting and order management tools.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and supervise shipping/receiving associates.
  • Control production standards and accuracy of shipments/receiving.
  • Maintain daily production and accuracy records.
  • Process store returns and vendor returns per policy.
  • Coordinate with Inventory Control on slotting and rotation.
  • Lead daily safety, productivity and accuracy meetings.
  • Communicate with Transportation on backhaul flow and receipt.
  • Sign for, sort and distribute inbound mail and packages.
  • Walk the warehouse daily with supervisors to ensure safety and policy compliance.
  • Ensure economical use of equipment and personnel for assigned work.
  • Maintain good cross-department relationships.

What does it mean to be a part of our Warehouse Supervisor team? Our Warehouse Supervisor team oversees the daily operations of the warehouse, ensuring that goods are stored, handled, and dispatched efficiently. They are responsible for leading and motivating a fast-paced team, optimizing processes, maintaining safety standards, ensuring inventory accuracy, and utilizing WMS systems for reporting and order management. This role involves coordinating with other departments, overseeing shipping, and receiving activities, and implementing strategies for inventory control. Warehouse Supervisors also ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, and legal requirements. Our supply chain at UNFI is focused on providing superior service, quality and efficiency, improving every day to meet customers’ unique needs.

  • Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday - 12:30am to 9:00am
  • Friday - 8:30am to 5:00pm

Job Responsibilities And Accountabilities
  • Schedules and supervises of shipping/receiving associates.
  • Controls production standards, accuracy of shipments and receiving, using proper accuracy programs and systems.
  • Maintains daily production and accuracy records.
  • Processes store returns and return to vendors using proper Company policies.
  • Coordinates with Inventory Control associates regarding slotting, product rotation and space allocation.
  • Conducts daily crew meeting to discuss safety, productivity and accuracy.
  • Communicates with Transportation on the flow and receipt of backhauls.
  • Supervises scheduling of inbound load appointments.
  • Responsible to sign for, sort and distribute inbound, overnight carrier and mail service deliveries.
  • Walks warehouse daily, with Superintendent, to ensure that safety, security, sanitation and pest control codes, laws, and policies are maintained.
  • Ensures the most economical and efficient use of equipment and personnel to accomplish assigned work.
  • Develops and maintains good working relationship with all departments.
Physical Environment
  • During part of the workday the incumbent will be moving about the Distribution Center warehouse floor and potential hazards exist in regard to machinery such as forklifts, pallet jacks, mechanized systems, movement of tractors and trailers, etc.
  • Temperatures in the warehouse may vary between –20 to 70 degrees. Noise levels in all areas are within acceptable tolerance ranges for those specific work areas.
  • Incumbent will use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of the workday.
Job Requirements
  • Possess strong general knowledge of all warehousing operations, with prior work experience to include lead person or supervisory duties.
  • Possess good supervisory skills and the ability to work with and through others to achieve desired results.
  • Possess good communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to read and interpret computerized reports.
  • Requires the analytical ability to handle administrative duties and mental alertness to ensure accurate, safe, and thorough completion of work activities.
  • Basic computer skills required and personal computer experience helpful, with word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.
  • Possess the ability to concentrate and deal with frequent interruptions

UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements.
