Job summary

Span Alaska Transportation is seeking a Warehouse Associate to support loading, unloading, staging, and securing freight, delivering professional service to internal teams and customers. This non-supervisory role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and efficiency in daily warehouse operations.

You’ll handle freight from various vehicles, label and verify items against work orders, and maintain an organized, safe workspace.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Forklift certification and/or Hazardous Materials certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight safely from various types of vehicles
• Move freight, materials, and inventory within the warehouse, yard, and staging areas
• Tag, label, and mark freight with identifying information
• Verify freight against work orders and shipping documentation
• Record quantities and units handled or moved
• Load and properly secure flatbed freight
• Ensure loads comply with water restriction and transportation requirements
• Assist customers by phone and in person in a courteous, professional manner
• Communicate clearly with coworkers and supervisors regarding work assignments
• Support other departments and team members as needed
• Consistently follow all safety policies and procedures
• Perform basic inspection, cleaning, and minor maintenance of vehicles and equipment
• Maintain a clean, organized warehouse environment
• Use proper lifting techniques and material‑handling equipment at all times
• Accurately complete required paperwork and documentation
• Read work orders or follow verbal instructions to determine assignments and equipment needs
• Perform other duties as assigned to support operations
