Job summary

Tandem Foods in Pittsburgh is seeking a Warehouse Specialist to support production, shipping and receiving, ensuring SQF/BRC compliance and safe, accurate operations. You will pick orders with RF scanners, load/unload transport, maintain forklift safety, and keep inventory accurate with robust GMP practices.

The role requires physical fitness and flexibility for shifts in a fast-paced food warehouse environment.

Qualifications

• Strong mathematical and reading comprehension with mechanical aptitude.
• Working knowledge of MRP systems and RF scanner technology.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely (certification required).
• High attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
• Flexibility to work different shifts or extended hours as business needs require.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to GMPs and all food safety/quality requirements under SQF/BRC.
• Maintain safe work practices, including proper forklift operation, safe driving speeds, horn usage, and seatbelt compliance.
• Review production sheets to identify and resolve inventory discrepancies.
• Accurately pick customer orders by interpreting pick-tickets and using RF scanner systems.
• Load and unload transport vehicles, ensuring products are securely and evenly placed.
• Maintain forklift equipment, complete daily inspections, and ensure proper shutdown and charging procedures.
• Document all shipping and receiving activities thoroughly and accurately.
• Follow FIFO (First-In, First-Out) procedures for all warehouse inventory unless otherwise directed.
• Strictly adhere to company inventory control and MRP system policies.
• Perform preventive maintenance and housekeeping tasks to keep warehouse areas safe and organized.
• Support other warehouse or production-related duties as assigned.
