Job summary

Job description

The Warehouse Specialist supports daily warehouse operations and completes all warehouse and store duties assigned by operations management in a timely manner. This position requires teamwork and close interaction with the counter, shipping, receiving, drivers, management, and the outside sales team. This position supports warehouse, shipping, receiving, and driving operations, as well as training needs in the organization based on operational demand at the discretion of operations management.

Essential Job Functions/Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with operations management on a daily basis to support assigned needs within the warehouse, shipping, receiving, and driving operations.
  • Training new employees on operational procedures, ensuring they have a smooth and effective onboarding experience.
  • Assisting in the MHE training and recertification process for all team members.
  • Pulling and packaging units for outgoing shipments.
  • Affixing shipping labels on packed boxes.
  • Staging merchandise for outgoing shipments and loading and unloading merchandise on delivery trucks.
  • Sorting and placing merchandise in proper stock areas.
  • Assisting operations management and co-workers in performing assigned tasks, including ensuring the warehouse and shipping areas are neat and orderly and all equipment is kept in safe and efficient condition.
  • Exercising and promoting safe behaviors and showing unyielding support of programs, rules, and policies regarding safety. Reporting accidents in accordance with company policy.
  • Keeping operations management informed of shortages, overloads, damaged merchandise, and inventory control.
  • Accurately receiving all products and inspecting products for damages and volume.
  • Handling all necessary paperwork upon shipment receipt.
  • Managing and returning incorrect shipments.
  • Maintaining accurate records and assisting with inventory control.
  • Communicating with the Purchasing Department and Accounts Payable when a receiving mistake is identified.
  • Communicating with the Sales team regarding key customers, receipt of next-day items, damaged orders, or other related issues.
  • Labeling deliveries and allocating them to their designated place.
  • Maintaining the receiving areas in neat and orderly conditions; making sure that all equipment is kept in safe and efficient locations.
  • Operating a company-owned and leased vehicle safely while delivering materials, products, and parts to customers and jobsites.
  • Following traffic laws at all times.
  • Obtaining signatures on delivery and pick-up invoices or signed slips.
  • Following assigned scheduling and routing of deliveries; making deliveries in a timely manner as scheduled.
  • Following maintenance schedule for truck services and repairs; taking vehicle for service when instructed to do so.
  • Reporting any mechanical problems to management and maintaining vehicles in a neat and clean condition.
  • Operate machinery and equipment while adhering to safety protocols, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as eye protection, steel-toed boots, safety hat, high visibility safety apparel, and gloves-Cut level 3 (A3).
  • Maintaining a neat appearance in accordance with company dress code policy; always remaining courteous and service-minded while dealing with other employees and customers.
  • Protecting and maintaining confidentiality of company trade secrets and other confidential or proprietary information including, without limitation, operations methods, customer information, and sales data.
  • Participate in job-related training, department meetings and continuing education.
  • Maintaining punctuality and regular and reliable attendance.
  • Completing projects and assignments on time.
  • Be a member of the Safety Team and participate in all relevant activities.
  • Completing other related duties assigned by department management

Qualifications

  • A minimum of two years of experience operating an order picker, forklift and reach truck.
  • Must be physically able to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Must be a dependable worker with the ability to carry out a series of work instructions without constant supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate at all levels of the organization.
  • Must be proficient in computer and general internet usage.
  • Must be able to create a positive and productive working relationship with employees and customers.
  • Must be able to work independently and use effective problem-solving skills to resolve issues.
  • May be required to work some Saturdays based on business demand.
  • Must obtain an OSHA 10.
  • Must be certified by the company to operate all MHE.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possess a valid driver’s license and have a clean driving record and satisfy all requirements necessary to be added to the company auto insurance policy. Presentation of a DMV report is required prior to beginning employment.
  • Our Company requires Drivers to be at least 23 years of age and possess no moving violations within the previous 5 years.
  • Previous experience training new employees
  • A minimum of two years of previous experience in the industrial distribution industry
