Job summary

Nebraska Furniture Mart (NFM) invites you to join our Shop Assistant team in Kansas City, Monday–Friday 7am–3:30pm. You will support the repair shop and inventory control, inspect finished furniture, and assist with loading, repairs, and parts orders. Your efforts help customers create homes they love.

Qualifications

• 6 months’ warehouse or labor experience.
• Positive, upbeat attitude.
• Ability to lift/push/pull required weights.
• Ability to work night, weekend and/or early morning hours based on business needs.

Responsibilities

• Inspect Repaired Furniture for quality control, wrap product and load on flats.
• Repair: remove back panels and install mirrors.
• Assist: work with the inventory team to pick merchandise for delivery and cycle products in the repair shop.
• Maintain: organize lumber rack and keep the repair shop tidy.
• Safety: keep hazardous chemicals properly labeled and stored per government standards.

NFM’s Shop Assistant is responsible for supporting team members in our repair shop and inventory control department. If you’re a team player and are looking to kick‑start your career at NFM, this is a great place to start.

Job Duties: A Day in the Life

• Inspect Repaired Furniture for quality control, Wrap product and load on flats
• Repair: remove back panels and install mirrors
• Assist: Work with the inventory team to pick merchandise for delivery, cycle products in the repair shop and order supplies/product parts as needed
• Maintain: Organize lumber rack and keep the repair shop up to NFM housekeeping standards
• Safety: Keep all hazardous chemicals properly labeled and stored according to government standards
