Job summary

The North Slope Borough seeks a versatile warehouse and clerical worker to verify, record, load, unload, and route shipments and mail for distribution across departments.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED; or 12 years of education with related work experience.
• One year of work-related experience in a warehouse environment.
• Ability to obtain a Valid Alaska Commercial Driver's License with air-break endorsements within probationary period.
• Ability to obtain Barrow Airport Runway Permit/Badge within the first six months of probation.
• Ability to obtain 49 CFR Hazardous Material Training Certificate within one year of employment.
• The North Slope Borough is an alcohol and drug free workplace.

Responsibilities

• Verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipments by comparing contents with records.
• Prepare documents such as delivery logs, bills of lading, and receiving reports.
• Sort and route incoming mail to departments and collect outgoing mail.
• Record shipment data using a computer for reporting and records.
• Load, unload, and move freight and materials using equipment safely.
• Correspond with carrier, vendor, or department representatives to resolve problems.
• Sort and store items in an orderly warehouse or supply area.
• Pack, seal, label, and affix postage to packages for shipping.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
